Australian values include freedom, respect, fairness, and equality of opportunity.
Citizenship involves living out these values in daily life and respecting laws.

Commitment to the Rule of Law

All Australians are equal under the law.
Obeying laws is mandatory, regardless of background or culture.

Parliamentary Democracy

Government power comes from citizens voting for parliamentary representatives.
Voting is compulsory, reflecting the importance of elections.

Freedoms in Australia

Freedom of speech: Express ideas freely, but within the law.
Freedom of association: Join or leave legal groups voluntarily.
Freedom of religion: Follow any religion or none, as long as laws are obeyed.

Equality of All People

Everyone is equal, regardless of gender, age, religion, race, or ethnicity.
Discrimination is illegal; opportunities should be based on skills and merit.

Mutual Respect and Tolerance

Respect others' opinions and choices.
Racism, violence, and abuse are not tolerated and are illegal.

Citizens pledge loyalty to Australia and its people.
Dual citizenship is allowed, but Australian laws must be followed at all times.
